Antique Chinese Porcelain and Pottery

In 17th century Europe, porcelain was the sensation among the rich and imported porcelain China became the rage. Chinese art and ceramics had a big effect on the trade and art in Europe and the Renaissance. The first pottery made during the Paleolithic period which was fired in a bonfire. The very word China indicates the importance of the Chinese porcelain. Porcelain is defined as ceramics that are white and translucent. Chinese ceramics are either high fired or low fired. The Chinese developed kilns that were able to reach 1000° in the second millennium BC. By the Han Dynasty the temperatures could reach 1300° C.
